SUCESSFULLY SURVIVING 48 HOURS ONLINE
WITH SINA.COM.HK
SINA.com.hk is proud to announce the successful survival of the two volunteers, Jonathan Chan and Amy Lam, who participated in a 48-hour ONLINE SURVIVAL competition. Emerging from their separate guest rooms at the YMCA today, the two contenders ordered food, enjoyed entertainment, learned of various news and communicated with the outside world through only online access to SINA.com.hk's destination site over the past 2 days.
Accepting a certificate awarded by Sina.com.hk, Jonathan Chan said: "This is one experience I will never forget! Sina.com.hk has a vast assortment of interesting online content, allowing one to access anything from local and international news to horoscope readings and online chat forums. Its powerful search engine also enabled us to view other web sites. Unfortunately, e-commerce does not seem to be very popular in Hong Kong and I had a lot of trouble ordering everyday items such as books and clothing. I am very much into computers, however I don't think I could seriously live just online for a long time."
Amy Lam added, "The experience was quite interesting. I learned a lot about the Internet, what it can offer and its limitations as a comprehensive survival tool in Hong Kong. Most frustrating was ordering food online from local grocery chains, pizza deliveries and restaurants. Online ordering was typically unavailable and where it did exist I could only order non-perishable goods and delivery would take several days."
Online voting for the more successful volunteer in this competition revealed that 81% of Sina.com.hk users believed Amy would give up while only 18% believe Jonathan would give up.
Each winner received a 3Com HomeConnect PC Digital Camera, FILA sports wear, and drinks sponsored by UNI-President Enterprises Corp. as take home prizes for participating in ONLINE SURVIVAL.
