SINA.com appoints General Managers for its Hong Kong and Taiwan Operations
SINA.com, a destination site for global Chinese, announced the appointments of Mr. Albert Yen and Mr. Ben Tsiang as General Managers of SINA.com.hk and SINA.com.tw respectively. In their new capacities, Mr. Yen and Mr. Tsiang are responsible for the website's operation and development in their respective regions.
Mr Albert Yen, General Manager of SINA.com.hk
After joining SINA.com in 1998, Mr Albert Yen was appointed General Manager of SINA.com.tw in March 1999, and has since contributed immensely to the website's development.
Mr. Yen was previously employed with Hewlett Packard at its Taiwan and Singapore offices. He has worked in various departments including system maintenance, business development, marketing, strategic alliance and semi-conductors. The product lines he was responsible covered equipment/equipment maintenance, UNIX workstation, personal computers as well as laser and ink-jet printers.
Subsequently, Mr. Yen joined Lotus Software Development as Asia-Pacific OEM Manager, where he worked in partnership with Acer, Compaq, Canon and other companies in software sales. He also served as Lotus Notes (Taiwan)'s Business Development Manager..
Backed with comprehensive industry expertise, Mr. Yen is experienced in maintenance engineering, business development, direct-selling as well as software/hardware-related work. Furthermore, he has vast experience in related industries, with excellent business connections.
Mr. Ben Tsiang, General Manager of SINA.com.tw
As one of SINA.com's three founders, Mr. Ben Tsiang oversees product development and webpage design on a global level. In April 1999, he spearheaded the integration planning for SINA.com's websites in Mainland China, Taiwan and North America. In the history of Internet development, Mr Tsiang is one of the very rare corporate founders who still plays a key management role in the company after it has been firmly established.
In 1995, Mr. Tsiang founded the Sinanet, the precursor of SINA.com, with Jack Han and Hurst Lin at Stanford University. Following this, Mr Tsiang served as Vice-President of Product Development/ Media Strategic Alliance and held a number of key positions, gaining extensive knowledge of aspects of website operation.
In addition, Mr. Tsiang is an accomplished designer-artist with over ten years of experience. The signature Chinese characters on the SINA.com homepage are one of his artistic creations.Mr. Tsiang holds a Master's and a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from Stanford University and the Taiwan State University respectively.
