SINA.com Strengthens Position as Clear International and Metro Leader in Two Recent Internet Surveys


(Beijing, China and Sunnyvale, California--July 10, 2000) SINA.com (Nasdaq: SINA), a leading Internet media and services company for Chinese communities worldwide, has been named the leading Chinese website by two recent studies. One was conducted by Taiwan's BNext magazine and the other by China's Beijing Youth Daily. SINA.com was ranked as the best website in Greater China by the BNext study and as the most popular site in Beijing, Shanghai and Guangzhou by the Beijing Youth Daily survey.

In the BNext study, SINA.com won by a wide margin over some 300 competing Internet companies from mainland China, Hong Kong, Taiwan and Singapore for the number one spot. BNext, an affiliate of the PC Home Group, the leading media group on IT in Taiwan, is one of the most authoritative monthly magazines on e-business, finance and the New Economy in Asia.

In a separate survey conducted by the Beijing Youth Daily, SINA.com was named the most popular site by Internet users in Beijing, Shanghai and Guangzhou, China's three wealthiest and most Internet-penetrated cities. The Beijing Youth Daily is one of the most popular national newspapers, targeting students and young professionals in China. As of January 2000, Internet users in Beijing, Shanghai and Guangzhou accounted for almost half of China's total Internet population.

SINA.com's top ranking in China's major metro areas comes at the heels of the company's announcement to further penetrate China's metro markets. It recently entered into a strategic alliance with Shanghai Online, Shanghai's largest Internet service and content provider, to integrate the best of their content and services for Shanghai residents.
