This marks the third consecutive number one ranking that SINA.com has received from CNNIC, which publishes a semi-annual report on Internet development in China and a top ten list of the most popular websites.
SINA.com's number one ranking by CNNIC follows two recent independent accolades that validate SINA.com's scope, reach and popularity among Chinese Internet users. SINA.com was selected as the best website in Greater China and Singapore by Taiwan's BNext magazine, one of the most authoritative monthly magazines on e-business, finance and the New Economy in Asia. In addition, SINA.com was ranked the number one site in Beijing, Shanghai and Guangzhou by China's Beijing Youth Daily, one of the most popular national newspapers, targeting young people in China.
The July 2000 CNNIC report listed the following as the ten most popular websites in China: 1) SINA, 2) Sohu, 3) Netease, 4) English Yahoo!, 5) 263.net, 6) cn.yahoo.com, 7) 163.net, 8) 21cn.com, 9) chinadotcom, 10) chinaren.com
