NIELSEN/NETRATINGS RANKED SINA NUMBER ONE WEBSITE
IN HONG KONG BY PAGE VIEWS

SINA STRENGTHENED ITS POSITION AS LEADING ONLINE MEDIA FOR
CHINESE MARKETS WORLD WIDE

(Hong Kong/Sunnyvale, Calif. - September 25, 2001) - SINA (Nasdaq: SINA), a leading Chinese media and Internet services company, announced today that its sina.com.hk website was ranked number one in Hong Kong in terms of page view for the month of August by Nielsen/Netratings, a leading authority on Internet measurement across more than 28 countries and a strategic partnership between ACNielsen, Nielsen Media Research, and Netratings.

This ranking came on the heel of surveys conducted by two other independent Internet research firms, IamAsia and Netvalue, which confirmed SINA's number one position in China. Specifically, IamAsia ranked SINA as the top domain in China, while Netvalue ranked SINA as both the top domain and top web property in China.

"The steady climb in our page views, which now surpass both Yahoo!HK and Hongkong.com, two other well known Websites in Hong Kong, demonstrates SINA's ability to effectively target Hong Kong audience with appealing content and variety of products and services" comments Albert Yen, General Manager of SINA Hong Kong, "Our top position in three (China, Hong Kong and North America) of the four most important markets for Chinese worldwide provides our advertisers the reach they need in the global Chinese markets".
